About Dave Anderson

Dave AndersonHey there. My name is Dave Anderson, and I’m excited to share with you a little bit about my story, my background, and the Moving Millennials vision.

To begin, I have so much gratitude for my parents and my family. You see, I grew up in a household with a mom and dad who told me I could be, do and have anything I wanted. At the age of four, when I decided to dress up for Halloween as a chimney sweep from the movie ‘Mary Poppins’, my parents told me I could.

For most of my childhood, my dream was to play baseball in the Major Leagues. My parents told me I could.

At the end of high school, after a 4 year hiatus, I fell in love with music again and set out to become a professional opera singer. My parents told me I could.

As I graduated university and started a career in retail with Apple, I had a vision to climb to the top of the company and maybe one day, work on campus in Cupertino. My parents told me I could.

Two years later when I left Apple to become a full-time, work-from-wherever ‘Lifestyle Entrepreneur’, my parents told me I could. I was conditioned to believe that anything and everything is possible. For that, I am eternally grateful.

It has now been more than three years since I was last employed. I suspect that my job with Apple will be the last one I ever have. In just about every way, I have slowly but surely become what many refer to as ‘psychologically unemployable’.

It’s taken some time, but I can finally say that I am starting to figure this thing out. I spend all of my time doing work that truly matters to me, I earn more, and I take six times more vacation than I did four years ago. Rarely do I work more than 30 hours/week, I don’t deal with any politics or drama, and I am never worried about being passed up for a promotion.

I am focused on growth. I love working with people and I’m lucky to be able to choose exactly who I spend my professional time with. I operate in a world that is fully collaborative, and not competitive. Best of all, I get to spend lots of time with the people I love the most: my team and business partners; my family; and the girl I fell in love with back in high school, Jenny.

Moving Millennials is a vision I have had for a very long time, thought it’s been this past year that it has become really clear. Moving Millennials is based on a belief I’ve held for some time, that young people can literally customize every single aspect of their career and their life, without limitations. Not only that, but this is more possible today than it has ever been.

As Millennials, I believe we are the luckiest generation in history to enter the workforce. The game has completely changed, and there are virtually no rules. If we allow it to, the ‘work paradigm’ that has existed since the early 1800s – that is, 40 hours per week for 40 years – can vanish in an instant. Poof. Gone.

This paradigm no longer makes any sense, it’s unnecessary and it really isn’t going to move the world forward the way it needs to.

So what is the new work paradigm? Good news – WE get to design it! Here’s my version…

No bosses. No employees. No such thing as Monday – Friday, 9 – 5. No weekday is better than any other. Sunday nights are just as awesome as Fridays. Everyday is ideal.

Work is comprised of one, two or a few ‘passion-centred projects’ that grow and evolve over time, all of which offer a unique contribution to a portion of society, with no geographic boundaries.

Stress is low, travel and leisure time is high. Time and lifestyle are valued before money, though income potential is limitless, and your family benefits the most.

I’ve decided to hang out in this world, and my vision is to help thousands of young people from all over the world, move in with me.

We’re living in a time where our everyday expenses will continue to rise at faster rate than ‘traditional economy’ incomes. For this reason, stepping into entrepreneurship is more important than ever before. Out of necessity, the time is approaching where the scale will tip and entrepreneurship will become the norm.

Moving MillennialsTwice each week, I spend time interviewing an exceptional Millennial Mentor. I learn their story, the processes they’ve been through, their success tips, and the lessons they’ve learned from their failures. Through the podcast, I share each and every one of these conversations with you through iTunes and Stitcher Radio.

My hope is that in each episode you take something away from the featured Millennial Mentor that sparks an idea, guides you forward in some way, or inspires you to consider a new possibility in your life and career – perhaps one that truly moves you.

I’m excited to get to know you, learn about your biggest aspirations in life, and do whatever I can to help you achieve them. Reach out any time through the Contact page, or register for a free 20-minute phone or Skype-based coaching session through the Coaching page.

With that said, it’s time to begin. Let’s get MOVING! We’re building a GLOBAL community of like-minded young people who have made the decision to do things a little differently. I’ve got SO much in store for you, this is just the beginning. Enter your Name and Email below to receive my FREE ebook. It’s entitled ‘Millennial Mentors: Volume 1′. In it, I’ve take the golden nuggets from each of the first 9 guests on the podcasts, and written a chapter based on each person’s ideas, wisdom, tips and business strategies.

I am so excited to get to know you, and personally help to MOVE you towards the life of more travel, greater contribution, and freedom in every way. Thanks for being here. See you inside.
